K. is taking a vacation and interrupting its usual publication schedule. In the absence of new material to share, here is a selection of some vintage texts.

First, a classic. In “Merry Christmas”, Danny Trom analyzes Steven Spielberg and Joe Dante’s Gremlins and revels in the fact that the world, flooded with glad tidings, can still be turned upside down. This text is a must-read for all lovers of dark humor, or those who would like to discover the Jewish Christmas movie genre.

In a different, more thoughtful style, Ruben Honigmann is always a pleasure to read or reread. Last year, during K. on Stage, he shared his Hanukkah reflection on the loneliness of those Jews who imagine themselves to be the last, but never seem to be so.

Finally, in the absence of actual snow, we are venturing over to a landscape that comes to mind when thinking of the winter season, namely Swiss villages, and are revisiting the photo essay by Evelyne Dreyfus & Eric Beracassat.
