Saul Friedländer
Saul Friedländer is a Czech‑born Jewish historian and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), known worldwide for his work on Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. A Holocaust survivor himself, he has dedicated his life to documenting the genocide of the Jews, combining victim testimony with rigorous historical analysis. He is the author of many seminal works, including The Years of Extermination: Nazi Germany and the Jews, 1939‑1945, which won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2008, and has received major international honors such as the Balzan Prize for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
